The Graphic Alphabet
Author & Illustrator: David Pelletier
Publisher: Orchard
Publication Year: 1996
Location: Knox County Public Library- Powell
Awards: ALA Notable, Caldecott Honor
Summary: The alphabet book contains incredible illustrations that provide one-word clues to help the reader figure out the letters from the pictures. The use of the graphics are creative and the words chosen are never the expected ones.
Classroom Ideas: I can see many conversations being started about this book and the choices of the artist. It would be especially interesting to me to show the illustrations to children out of order and see if they could figure out the letters.
